Prescribing reviews mainly aim to: identify errors, detect potential safety issues and assess the adequacy of the treatment. Particularly recommended in the following patients: the polymedicated, with reduced life expectancy, the elderly, and the frail. Deprescribing should be considered when unnecessary medication is identified or when risks outweigh the benefits. Within the Andalusian Health Service, a periodic review of the medications is carried out in patients treated with antidiabetics, NSAIDs, benzodiazepines, ACEI and ARA II antihypertensives, in an effort to improve patient safety. |
